Wow. 9 days since my last post, and so much has gone on. I don’t know if I can think that far into the past with the way my brain’s working.
At some point during these last 9 days, I decided it was no longer a good idea to speak about FuzzMeasure’s next version. Part of the reason stems from the fact that I just don’t know when it’ll be done. The other part of the reason results from the fact that writing about FuzzMeasure’s new features only subtracts from the time I have to spend writing them.
Also during the last 9 days, I decided I should “get out” more, and try to become more vocal in mailing lists and forums. I find that hard to do for the same reason I find it hard to keep updating the public on FuzzMeasure’s progress. I work on this part-time, and when I’m not doing support (which is still the highest priority), I prefer to write code.
Here are some other random things I did during the last 9 days (in mostly random order):
- Bought an LCD screen to use as a second display
- Wrote lots of code that generated 10x its weight of code for FuzzMeasure (I hope to write more on this later)
- Returned an LCD screen to use as a second display
- Read about the evening at Adler, envied the attendees, wondered if I also need new shoes
- Decided that I have no choice but to attend WWDC next year
- Ordered a very precise measurement microphone
- Ordered an external 2.5″ FireWire HDD enclosure
- Ordered a MOTU Traveler
- Paid for only the cheapest of the 3 above items
- Issued a refund
- Spent $100 on a PDF
- Tried (and so far failed) to find the perfect secondary LCD for the perfect price
- Fell in love with my PowerBook — again
- Started thinking about a new license key scheme
- Printed the $100 PDF, in triplicate, despite the license I agreed to
- Started thinking about a new license key scheme
- Tried (and so far failed) to get my DSL connection upgraded
- Chased a seemingly device-specific issue, only to learn it was machine-specific
- Ate some great frozen pizza
- Got irritated at the repeated typing errors I tend to make on the PowerBook’s keyboard
- Designed a whole lot of new UI hunks for the next version
- Tried (and so far failed) to redesign this main page
- Debugged a DSP issue while watching CSI:Miami
- Wrote some prototype display code while watching Oprah
- Verified that the filters I use follow their spec
- Realized I also need a pinking filter for log sweeps
Hope you enjoyed that. It was fun to write.
