11  Overriding the detected Key

Capo automatically detects the song’s key and displays it in the toolbar on macOS or in the KEY control strip on iOS. When you transpose the song, the key display will update to reflect your changes.

But sometimes Capo will incorrectly detect the key—for example, identifying the song as C major instead of A minor. If that happens, here’s how you fix it:

macOS

To change the detected key:

• Choose Notes > Change Song Key… from the main menu
• Select the Major or Minor tab
• Pick a new key using the pop up button

iOS

To change the detected key:

• Tap the menu at the top-right of the song view, and choose Change Song Key
• Select the Major or Minor tab at the top of the screen
• Use the picker control to select a different key
