(a) Compact

(c) Grid-Aligned
Figure 22.2: The available chord layouts. The compact layout (a) is the default, where bars of chords are squeezed towards the left of each line of the display, leaving space at the end when the next bar won’t fit. The full-width layout (b) works similarly, except that bars are spread out to consume all the horizontal layout space. Unlike the compact layout, full-width won’t place more than eight bars on a line, so your song appears “taller” when you are scrolling. Finally, the grid-aligned layout (c) places bars on a fixed, quarter-width-spaced grid. Each line of the Chords display will contain either 1, 2, 3, or 4 bars that are aligned on this grid. You might find this easiest to follow along with while the song plays. However, this layout is the tallest of the three layouts, and requires the most vertical scrolling to navigate the whole song.
